Slacking, Slacking, Slacking!!!
It has been a pretty tough 2018, a lot of ups and downs on a personal level, which as I see now has greatly impacted my up keep and work going on #Bobbieswaterfalls website.
So to all my readers and followers, my apologies!
I have recently jumped back into continuance of the revamp and updates to my website! pages are becoming accessible again. As well as by doing so, have given myself a new goal that will help keep me on track. Stay Tuned, as the first blog of many “Series” will be posted soon. Hint: #Series
Also, on the backend, as most everyone knows #Dig the falls, is growing, improving and expanding in all areas. This is keeping us all busy. Please take some time and read up on some news posted there.
Dig the Falls crew is in process of scheduling Trail building and clean up in 2 locations. We are looking for volunteers and interest in helping out with this project.
One location is in Troy New York and the other location is South of Watertown, in Oneida County. More information to follow.

I am curious! We all view our destinations based on our personal preferences. For all you “Waterfall” folks, what areas or types of waterfall locations do you choose to see.
Do you like long hikes to get to a waterfall? Do you prefer a roadside stop here and there along a route to your end destination?

Do you prefer hikes less then 1 mile to see a waterfall?

Would you only visit tourist areas of attractions like Niagara Falls, Watkins Glen State Park or Letchworth State Park?

My point of view I love waterfalls, of course. I do not like lots of people, therefore I would choose lesser known places to travel to. As well as the adventure it brings. Niagara Falls is a totally awesome place, yet I found every time I went it was too overwhelming with all the people. I love following the “Whitewater rafting/kayaking” folks. I love watching as they plummet over the falls! Sure there on plenty of on lookers, cheering on their friend or family or spouses. Everyone is there with the same common interest. That and I get to learn and find more waterfalls in which is classified as rapids! I have had more adventures and stories to tell for years later! Cool, I think so.

An awesome turnout for this weekends events!! A job well done! As some of my readers have seen some postings regarding trail clean-ups/Digthefalls. This year our destination was Mount Ida Falls in Troy New York. Part of our team was there.

A dear friend of mine from West Virginia, came up to visit us, and had wish to see Niagara Falls. She had never been here before. On our return to here to Niagara Falls, we covered areas that we did not get to in July. We included a couple of activities that would give views of all the Falls. Had a great time. The grandchildren greatly enjoyed the Maid of the Mist boat ride, as well as the Cave of the Winds.

Big Moose Rd and Woods Lake Rd
Directions:
From County Rte 28 and Big Moose Rd, in Eagle Bay, Get on Big Moose Rd and drive north for 5.8 miles. Turn left onto Big Moose Rd, and continue for 7.6 miles. Turn right onto Wood Lake Rd, which will be a loop road. Park off to the side and you will see the waterfall from the road. There is a gate at the beginning of Woods Lake Rd, please respect private property.

.3 miles walking back down the road from the parking area brings you to the trail. Look for a faint pink double ribbon on a tree. It then is a couple hundred feet to the top of the large falls.

Directions:
From County Rte 28 and Big Moose Rd, in Eagle Bay, Get on Big Moose Rd and drive north for 5.8 miles. Turn left onto Big Moose Rd and drive for 1.7 miles. Turn right onto Twitchell Rd and drive 2.1 miles to parking area.
Comments/Notes:
As you are walking down the road you will see several small cascades and some can be seen from the road. A short scramble/bushwhack will lead you to another waterfall here N43.83862 W74.89346 Please use caution in this area. Not a good location for children. For the main waterfall, the trail is easy and short. You can continue on the trail to the base of the waterfall. It is steep in some spots, and close to the edge of the waterfall.
